We had a sheet or details we wanted to convert to a "standard sheet" we could import into several projects. Unfortunately this would require cutting and pasting quite a few views each time. Also exporting the sheet of various scale views gave up an AutoCAD drawing with viewports which couldn't be imported or linked because of the different scales.
The solution was to use the AutoCAD express tool, CHSPACE. (Acad 2002) This moved the mode space objects into paperspace at the right scale. Now with all the objects properly scaled they could be imported into a 1:1 drafting view.
