Hello,

I need to find several lengths of the street curb for a project. Is there a way to draw several lines to later select them all and get a total length in Revit? I have tried selecting all of the detail lines and going to properties, but the length is blank. I have tried model lines and they sort of work with the measure along an element, only that arcs or other curved parts of the line are not selected (Detail lines are not selected either). Is there any other way to get the total length of detail lines or model lines with straight runs and curves? Also curious as to why Measure is on a Modify tab? Thanks.

I use a Line Based Special Equipment Family that has a Shared Parameter LENGTH = Length. You can click around the straight segments and then schedule them in two seconds.

You can make one that reads around an arc length, based on you clicking the Chord and inputting the radius, too.

Thanks for the tip Aaron, I'll try that out.

Aaron,
Is there a thread that you know of that discribes how you did this? I've not done much with line based parameters.

There's something similar here:

Thanks Robert,
I've seen this before but was too busy to figure it out. I just need to make this a priority. Thanks again.

Yup... Mine looks very similar, except doesnt bother with anything extruded in 3D. I also didnt use a start/middle/end, but just had an instance parameter for start and end (changes symbology).

EDIT:

For the cuved one, the "two click line" will have to be the CHORD or the arc, and the value for LENGTH will not be = length, but will be the trig function Circumference * ArcAngle/360... All of which you can calculate through a bunch of extra parameters. Theres an example of that in my blog from 2006 or 2007...
