View Full Version : Cannot Reinstall Revit 2010 - Installer.dll error

After the last crash, I uninstalled the program, and now it won't let me reinstall Revit 2010.

When I install from Admin iamge, right at the end of the install it says its "rolling back action", then it proceeds to undo all that it previously tried to install. curious???

it will install on other computers, and sometimes it will install and then crash/restart the computer right after it installs.

When installing from the DVD
It almost finishes then right after "updating environment strings" I get the following error:

1: 5 2 Failed to Load FNP_ACT_Installer.dll. 3: 126

I press ok, then it Rolls Back Action.
then it references some .log file (see attached).

I am perplexed.

I ran across this a couple weeks ago. Here is the fix I received from Autodesk.

Thank you for choosing Autodesk Support.

The error you are receiving is caused by an incorrect version of the DLL file mentioned in the error message(FNP_Act_Installer.dll). When you installed AutoCAD, it put its version of that file on the system, which tends to cause issues for subsequent Revit installations. Attached to this email is a ZIP file which contains a version of the file which should allow your Revit installations to go through without issue. Extract the DLL file from the ZIP file and place it into the following directory (overwriting the existing version):

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdLM\R1

If that fails to work, locate the FNP_Act_Installer.dll file on your Revit disc and copy it to the path listed above. Then the install of Revit should work fine.

I didn't have the DLL it talks about, but by placing the file into the folder, it allowed the installer to work.

Thanks, I figured it all that out moments before you posted this.
And I thought it had something to do with an AutoCAD install, but at least you confirmed my suspicions of why it happened.

How it happened:
I had Revit 2010 on my computer, then installed AutoCAD 2010, I then had trouble w/ Revit 2010 crashing then uninstalled it, so that FNP_act_installer.dll was gone by the time I went to reinstall Revit 2010.. and the errors started.

Word for word exactly what happened to me except it was AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 that was installed.

Actually it was AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 for me as well.

I am having the same problem except I am using 64 Bit Vista and not only do I not recieve the last window showing the error log file info, but the fix involving adding the dll file doesn't resolve it either. I have asked Autodesk Support but was hoping to get it figured out asap so if anyone has any ideas to please let me know. thanks everyone ahead of time!

Sincerely,
Brian Andresen

Brian,

maybe delete the folders in C:/Program Files/Revit blahblah 20??

on the programs you have uninstalled, but these folders remain.

I have the same issue with Navisworks 2010 64 bit running on Windows 7. After installing OE plug-ins for CADduct, 2009 ADT & MEP and 2010 ADT/MEP I can't reinstall Revit. Similar to Brian, the .dll file referenced above didn't resolve the issue for me.

Any other suggestions?

Has anyone found a correction for this issue. I am also running vista x64.

I had the same problem with a Windows 7 machine. The solution I found was to copy the 32-bit FNP_... file into the Program Files(x86)|Common Files\Autodesk\ADLM\R1. May not be the exact folder, but it is close. Refer to the posts above for the exact folder. With the 64-bit file already in the Program Files folder, this should allow any Autodesk product to install.
