This has the timber frame on the gable. Would you model it as an in-place family or seperate. I'm a bit daunted without knowing the pro and cons. It's like using facias for ridge tiles, not my first guess and i'd probably have found a more complicated way.

If that's a true timber-framed piece than I would just do it as an in-place structural framing family. Then I would model the wall used for the "infill" and join the timber frame to the wall to clean up the overlap.

Thanks muchly. BTW, like the pork chop. I've been using a model line drawn on the roof plane to sweep an extra bit of facsia then joined. Are there any benefits between the two?

eh I dunno, other than it doesn't require any extra elements (model lines). Just place the piece on the end face of the roof. I usually place them before my fascia sweeps, then add the sweeps, then join.
