Alright now a little background... I did Civil / Environmental Design a couple years ago. Got the boss to buy Civil 3D trained then was hired away to the world of Inventor literally the next week after getting the software. So I have been in the mechanical and AutoCAD vanilla world the past couple years. I am a certified Autodesk trainer and a Inventor Pro. Got hit by the recession now back to Environmental design.
Back to the real world I have made a ditch and got the contours to show. I need to know how to get them to tie into the existing grade now. I have see a setting somewhere but can't remember where it was.

What C3D object(s) did you use to make the ditch? That would determine the method used to daylight.

I used the feature line and the grading tools to create it... And someone else here at the office had already set up styles and thye know just enough to be dangarous they have been useing it for a year or so. This is week two for me...

You will want to use a grading to daylight the feature line. You will need a grading criteria that targets a surface. If you don't have one look in the NCS Extended template for Settings > Grading > Grading Criteria Sets > Basic Set > Grade to Surface.
I'm not sure what version you are using (we use 2009 mostly) but be careful with grading objects that target a surface. We have had intermittent problems with drawings becoming corrupt when using this type of grading. We started exploding the grading and keeping the feature line. I've done a little bit of grading in 2010 and have not seen this problem yet.
