Can you have the text have a zero offset from the dimension line, thus have the text directly centered within (During placement)?

If you set the dimension text offset to zero and the text is transparent, it will appear slightly above the dimension line. If you then set the text to opaque, it will appear similar to what you want ( but not exactly the same )
