Hi,
Im trying to cut a 'cast in place concrete' beam on the face of another 'cast in place concrete' beam, but it doesn't work.
So I thought I cut the beam on a ref plane, which works fine for steel beams (please see attached pic) but it doesn't seem to work for concrete.
Is there a way to cut concrete beams as well?
Best Regards,

Concrete beam families cannot be cut. A couple of workarounds:
Use a concrete wall the same thickness and height as your beam. Use an in-place void family to cut the wall, but not the beam it frames into. Probably not preferable.
Use a piece of concrete slab - thickness to match the height of your beam. You can then shape the end however you like. I've had to do this a number of times with irregular shaped concrete beams.

Use "Opening by face" tool.
Select the beam then you can create any opening or cut you want.
If you create a section in Revit you can then use the tool for cutting openings out of the side profile.

Use "Opening by face" tool.
Aaahhh. Yes, this does work. Thanks for the tip!

You can't use the "opening by face" tool if you're only cutting a portion -- or can you?

If it is cast in place concrete, dont you want the concrete beams to join? If so, just take the concrete beam to the centre of the other concrete beam and they will merge.
