I can't seem to get my T.O.F to show hidden on the outside of the building. Inside shows correctly with a slab but after toying with the view range setting and even duplicating what I have seen on the exapmles I have I can not get the outside footing line to show hidden. I know I'm missing something so easy but for the life of me Ican't figure out what it is. I'm the only guy here and trying to teach myself this stuff so it gets a ted frustrating not having someone to bounce stuff back and forth with.

the only way I was able to get it to work was by overriding the lines in the visibility/graphics.

Yes, and better yet... make it part of the default view template. Then you don't have to worry about constantly overriding graphics.

Is your footing between the "view depth" and the "far clip plane"? If so, it will be shown in the "beyond" linetype.
In 2010, you can override just one of the 3 possible line display controls: Linetype, Color, or thickness. (look in object styles)
Scott is right though- If you always want an element to be displayed with a "Hidden" linestyle in your plan, recardless of wheter or not it is hidden by another element (such as a slab) the Visibility/Graphics overides for the views is the correct way to do it.
