Stupid cartoon question

I am doing a very simple house in 2010 and I want the roof to show a composite shingle hatch, the walls a sand hatch and the facia boards a wood pattern. So far every time I change the "Wood Rafter 8" - Asphault Shingle - Insulated" material to use Block 8x16 then my walls change its hatch pattern to the block. If I change the surface material on my walls to the sand pattern then the roof changes to a sand pattern. I just need a basic cartoon 3D perspective view, a rendering is not necessary. Ya I know stupid question?

I was playing around the "Paint" command. I would go into the elevation view, hit the Paint button, select Wood and pick the facia boards but they remain blank. Whats the point of the Paint command?

Sounds like you are using the same material for both walls and roof? Duplicate off the material and call it another name and change properties, then re-assign for the other element.

ok thanks, not sure how I missed that. Its still early, guess the hang over has not worn off :)

What about the fascia boards?
