I have an architect needing to bring in our MEP systems (drawn in CAD Duct, ACAD MEP 2008, ect but all in a DWG compatible format) into the architectural Revit model. Typically I have the export the MEP systems to IFC and import/link the IFC in the architectural model which works perfect when ACAD 2009 is available, however, we have an architect with ACAD 2007 and to my knowledge there is no IFC export.

I have tried exporting as .sat, .dxf, ect and cannot get anything to come into Revit. We are in a dynamic coordination phase so I cannot do it once for them and call it good therefore this has to be a repeatable process on their end.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

A 3D .dwg file will work-just open a 3D view and export.

Since there is little or no "intelligence" in the Autocad MEP model
for Revit to read, the model is really just there as a 3D "background".

We prefer ( and insist on ) Revit MEP models from our engineers--
so we have true BIM coordination.
