Hello,

I have run into a problem that just won't seem to solve. When I do any type of BOM from the Panel Report menu I get varied (and wrong) results. One component that has 3 states and near 25 instances will sometimes show that there are only 2. Sometimes that there are 3 existing, 7 future and 11 new (or something similar) - point being all values, and total qty are wrong per the panel layout.

Has anyone ran into this type of issue before? And how did you solve it?

Thanks,

Erik Jenson

Yes, me too. I have the exact same problem (well for my schematic anyway), and have been trying to sort it all day.

So far I have noticed that if you use the report type 'single line' you get many if not all of these components show up. Therefore I need to know what else distinguishes a single line component from a non-single line component.

I was under the impression that single line components were treated as child components and not given a BOM listing, and that child components were given a '2' as the fourth character in the block filename. As all my custom symbols have been a '1' so far, I dont understand whats wrong.

Any thoughts :)

I think I have solved it.
The new Symbols I have created, using the iec2>1 symbol templates have an attribute called WDTYPE. By removing the value '1-' the symbol is now shown in the report (schematic).

I believe this is a 2010 issue, whereby single line components are given the WDTYPE attribute to distinguish them from schematics and to stop them being listed in reports twice.

I would be interested to hear from anyone that could confirm this.

Great job on finding this information! I did not use "single line". As to confermation, this is what I found on AutoCAD Electrical Help (2010):
"A one-line symbol can be a parent, child, or terminal. These one-line symbols use the same attributes as the schematic parent, child, and terminal symbols but with the following exceptions.
Attribute
Description
WDTYPE
The attribute must be present and carry a value of “1-” to indicate it is a one-line symbol, or “1-1” for the one-line bus-tap symbols. A bus-tap symbol is used to mark the beginning of a one-line circuit. Schematic symbols do not carry this attribute or have the attribute but with a blank value."

Yes, working with the BOM is sometimes very sensitive. Check to see if each component has the exact information, even one difference will very your results. This is especially true with terminals. Could you send a picture or send the dwg to analyze?
