I am a new to Revit and stumbled across this site last week and after seeing the set-up of the site, reading some of the topic's posted, the tips and tricks (which are going to be a great help) and most of all, the attitude of existing members to new users such as myself, I had to sign up staright away.

I cant wait to use it on a real project and without a doubt I know that this site and its memebers are going to be invaluable to me.

Be sure to take advantage of the tutorials that come with Revit. A good "weekend" spent going through them will take you a long way down the road to a "comfort zone".

1. Initial excitement: "Holy ****! look what I can do with this thing!"

2. First bump: "Hmmmm why won't it do what I want, that's not how I do it in (insert other cad software here)"

3. Creamy Middle: "mmmm... things are going more smoothly, now......mmmmm"

4. The WTF stage: Family editor eats you up and spits you out.

5. The enlightenment: Things really begin to click, you understand why things are happening in your model, and better yet how to control them and avoid problems, you have conquered the family editor.

6. Zen of Revit: You have mastered nearly all things revit, you "know" what revit "likes", and what it "dislikes" during model construction, a sixth sense, really. You spend your time exploring and tweaking advanced scheduling, OBDC, external parameters, AR3. You have a template to beat all templates, families for every situation.
