Hi everybody,
can someone give me links of tutorials, manuals, or resources of Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis?
The software documentation is lacking and there is nothing in the subscription portal.
Best regards

Here you can find the Getting Started Guide (Imperial/Metric)

I agree...
The help file and available documentation is (to say the very least) on the LEAN side.

Where can I obtain a proper manual for RSA?

The manual for my HP calculator is 10x more comprehensive than the available info on RSA

I think this could help about manuals for RSA

explore the folder were you extrack the file coming from http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=13141467

and after that you will see the folders docs, Install, Intro, Manuals, SDK and so on.

double click the folder named Manual and you see sub folders of English, French,Polish, and Verification Manuals,....in Verification Manual it is also useful try to visit that folder it is already your choice of what to open.

also in sub folders as I said open the English sub folder and you will find the CBS manual 2010 CBS manual example, a file of Revit2Robot building sample file, also of getting started guide for RSA it is your choice to choose wether to your Imperial or Metric.

and last Robot Installation Procedure.

I hope you find those things all are in pdf except Revit2Robot

Hi,

Could you point an Autodesk's product which is best documented, according to you, and explain the documentation's strengths ?

thank you

Pawel

Pawel,

In my opinion You cannot compare a drafting, and modeling software to a calculation software.
It is easy to show how to draw, but In Robot.... I think this manual is not enough ;/.
Just take a look to Robot ver.21 User Manual, and addon Robot 21 Examples,
You should see the difference.
For new users this instruction (ver.21) should suite their needs.

As for me, Im using Robot since ver 18. so I know quite a lot about the manuals :)

Pawel,

It is not two packages you can really compare, but I find the Revit Structure documentation much more helpful than the RSA documents.

The RSA Getting Started Guide is a very useful document. It just does not cover enough...

We would like to see:
More details on all the different analysis types and at least a full example on each
A full reinforcing project example (typical concrete framed structure)
Full guidance on elastic supports and the correct modelling thereof
etc..
(I'll work on a complete list and post it here in a week or so)

Hi Pawel,

It's true. Revit Structure manual is even too extensive (1600 pages). So people get discouraged to read it :-).

Robot v 18.0 and 21 had better manuals (although they were very messy written). Version 18.0 even had a training manual. It's pitty those manuals were not used as a base for RSA 2010.

We're busy writing our own course (in Dutch) which will be hopefully more structurated.

Although the help file is very good, it could be a suggestion to use this help file as manual, but then constructed in a good structural book. It would at least be a good advantage for the RSA product.

I didn't notice this training document before:

It's probably new. Check it out!

For those who have asked for a more digest-able book, there is a new volume available called Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2013 - Essentials available here: http://tiny.cc/RobotEssentialsa

Hope you will find it helpful.
Thanks,
