Will knowing Revit Architecture be of in benefit when learning Revit MEP?

Yes. Knowing the underlying Revit concepts will help you migrate to RME much easier than if you were learning RME without RAC experience. The tools in RME are different and it will take you a little while to get a handle on connectors, but the general concept is the same. Unfotunately, you will probably find that RME has more bugs and will probably give you more headaches than RAC.
