If you want to 'trim' the site you can SPLIT the surface and then just delete the unwanted portion.

I think what Tom meant was if it's possible to turn off the toposurface "boundary"?

As far as I know - NO.

However, as the work arround goes, you can turn (in Object Styles) the toposurface Line Colour to white - this doesn't change its surface colour or the contour lines colour but turns topography border to white... (or any other colour you want)...
