View Full Version : Ductwork shown as hidden line

I've tried searching, perhaps my skill in that is lacking as well.

Currently, I have some ductwork for a UFAD system. The intention is to show it on the floor level that it is serving. Since the ductwork is below the slab, I need to show the ductwork as a hidden line. This applies to this floor only.

In another section of the floor plan, I have ductwork that is running in the ceiling space. So for that, the standard ductwork display is fine.

I've set my view/ view depth so that I can see both sets of ductwork. What I can't seem to do is make what's under the slab a different linetype.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*I should add that I did not use auto-routing for any system. All of it was done manually. I haven't assigned any zones or anything else.

You can place the duct under the slab on a differnt workset then the above ceiling duct and create a filter that will display it has hidden line, or you can select all the duct you want to be hidden line, then right click and select Override Graphics in View-->By Element

Edit: Just saw the response above, that's much easier than what I was going to suggest.

Or you can adjust the view range so that the duct under the floor is not in the primary view range, but is in the view depth. You can then adjust the line style for the <Beyond> line to a dashed line and anything outside of the primary view range, but in the view depth will show as dashed.

SMC, thanks for that. I didn't think of doing it that way.

I did do it Jason's way.

I appreciate the help from both of you as well as tys (so 3 of you). Guess I'm still in AutoCad mode here.

Were you looking for the EXPLODE button??

I'll have to remember this for later (as I'm sure it will happen to us).
Personally, I like the override function instead of applying the beyond line style simply because I/we may not want to apply it to the ENTIRE model.

One other way that you can do it is by using the linework tool and it will allow you change edges of the duct work to a linestyle that you want. This is in the case that it might only be one edge or one duct/fitting. If it is a group of ducts then the above mentioned would be more efficient.
