I hope someone out there can give me some insight into the hardware specs for Revit Architecture. I have read the white sheets and looked at the minimum requirements to run the software, but I want to get some real world opinions from all of you users out there. My company is going to make the change over from Autocad Architecture to Revit Architecture. Our existing hardware specs are as follows:

Dell Precision PSW490 w/ Intel Xeon CPU 5160 @ 3.00 Ghz
3 gigs of ram
Nvidia Quadro FX 3500 graphics card

Just wondering how efficiently our current systems will run Revit. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Scott Tyler

This thread should be in the Hardware Forum..........

Up it quite a bit ( 64 bits, to be exact!)

1. 64 bit OS and software
2. As much RAM as will fit in your slots
3. Fast dual-core CPU--i.e. clock speed.
4. Quad core if Revit rendering is important.

1 and 2 are critical. Once a Revit file gets to 150-200 MB 32 bit machines w/ 4 GB RAM
will start having memory problems, and worts case not be able to open or save to central.

cheers.........
