Fighting with walls

I am trying to get a brick wall to have a pattern within it. It isn't a sweep along the entire length of the wall, just a 'focal point' on the surface of the wall. I don't know where to start.
I would like this to be some type of component so that I can adjust the settings and place it within the wall in different locations. See attached AutoCAD image <it feels like this image was produced with a chisel on a stone> ;-)

Have you tried using the paint option? This works well if you are only trying to create patterns/colors in certain areas on a wall.

It has it's limitations though. Try the tutorial.

Made a few patterns like this last week. Put the below in notepad and save it as My File.PAT. You can then make a new fill style in Revit for the alternate brick. Just doing a CMU building that uses several different cmu patterns for different block types.

I tried the painting option. It just seems that I would have to do a lot of work to get this information in the right location and with the correct dimensions. I need to do this 10+ times around the building. I was hoping a component of some sort would do the trick.

On that note... Can a wall based component cut into part of a wall? Like the exterior masonry?

Thanks Aaron, but I am trying to achieve the 'frame' detail that is depicted in the lower portion of the wall. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes. But you won't be able to align the brick coursing. The generic wall hosted materials have an origin of their own.

That might be okay with me... Which template do I use? I tried the 'Generic Model - Wall Based" but I can't find out how to cut a hole thru part of the wall. I tried the opening tool and the void tool. What's next?

Create an extruded void and use the cut geometry tool....
