II would be a nice to have a message appear on all the users computers that use a network print(s) that a user is publishing to that network printer. It could give the name of the user, the printer name and the number of documents that are being published.

There have been several instances that I would have known that a user is publishing to a certain printer. We try to tell everyone that we are printing. But it does not happen all the time.

Thank you,

Brad

I want to add to this post . It could also send a message to notify all users that the batch is completed.

~shrug~ not me. I don't use the networked plotter, I have my own.

I suppose I can see how it would be helpful...

This would not be valuable to people such as your self. But for people who are on a network, it would work favorably.

my two cents...... Are you trying to have this feature cause you have people plotting to it while you are in the middle of a large publish?? We have many network plotters....we've made it a policy that if you have a large plot session going to happen you give a little notice by e-mail and then plot at a certain time (for large sets). Plus If it is a network printer you should be able to look at that printer thru control panel and check to see what is in Que before you plot....My full size plotter is upstairs...with about 150 technicians plotting to this plotter, I always check to see how many plots are in front of me using this method. and even after I plot I still check to see when my plot has completed so that I don't have to walk up there prematurely.....

Maybe using the control panel and better communication at the office this problem could be resolved......I just think having a balloon notification would bug the **** out of me...especially with 150 technicians plotting all day long.........

OK, sorry, I'm done......

This notification could be done with the balloon message at the bottom of the screen. This could be set up to notify when a print job is started and completed. This could be a time sensitive pop up. This balloon could be set to be transparent by the user. It may bug the user, but he could have the option to turn it off.

Thank you,
