Revit Architecture 2010 - Help videos not available...

Hello:

I'm trying to learn about the new "Pattern Component Families" in RAC 2010. At the "Pattern Component Families" page in the help file, there is a "Watch Video" link. I click on the link and a blank window displays. The source code for the window mentions a .swf file called "RAC_Con_Component_demo_skin.swf". I searched for the file, but it's not installed.

Where can I get the help file videos? An obvious question for Autodesk: Why don't these things automatically installed when you install the software?

This SWF file should have installed with a typical installation. It is actually wrapped up in one of the CHM files. I suspect there might be a problem with your installation which is causing this. I am not working on a PC with Revit installed so I can't check to see the name of the CHM file where this should live. I will check and update tomorrow.

You could also try a reinstall to try and correct the issue.

Jeff aren't the family guide not installed but you need to download it?

The video questioned in the original post is part of the help files which is installed with Revit. It just happens to be a section about creating families.

The Families Guide is a suplemental guide that was created to go much more in depth on the subject of family creation and provides tutorials to give hands on practice on the concepts covered. It is a seperate download.

Yes. In 2010 we included about 30 videos embeded into the help files. They are aimed primarily at the new users to Revit however there are 5 of them covering the conceptual massing tools which experienced users might find of value since that was a totaly new feature.

Hello Jeff:

Rather than do a complete reinstall, why not post the .chm for download on the RAC 2010 website?

Also, I'm running Vista 64-bit. Any chance the problem is related to my OS?

Doubt it since im running Vista & 7 x6

If it is can i just send it to Fred?

I believe this is the file name. Still not working on a PC with Revit installed so I have not had a chance to check.
