Detail cut lines - how can I make my detail cut family scale automatically?

Whenever I insert a system detail cut, it is able to resize itself as I change the scale of the drawing view.

When I insert my detail family, it is constrained by the size that I made my circle, my cut line, etc. Maybe it's a dumb question, but is there any way I can have control over this without having to create my own detail families at different scales?

Symbols rescale (or really have a constant size in the real printed world.) Details are based on built object sizes. You can either use a symbol, or nest a symbol inside a detail....

Might it be possible to use a symbol in a 2-pick detail family? I have a line-based cut line symbol, but it's always a pain when using it in building sections because the line jog is so small by default (normally used in 1 1/2" scale details). I'd love if it came in the same size no matter what the drawing scale.

It is a detail component, with an annotation break in it middle
simply draw it will scale properly
