Hey everyone,
I'm new to Revit so sorry if this has been covered before. I have finished my DD set of doc's on my first Revit project and now am trying to detail it out. I understand how to "link" in AutoCAD drawings but when I print them out the line weights are all the same. Is there a way to retain my line weights while linking into Revit?
Oh, BTW: Loving Revit!!!! After 15+ years of AutoCAD I enjoy the software again.

Mike,
If you go to the "Insert" Tab on the ribbon>Import Panel> On the bottom right hand corner there is a diagonal arrow (this is called a dialogue launcher) click on this and it will open your import setting for your lineweights. This is saved to a text file, so once you get your cad colors to your lineweights in Revit, you can load it in each project. Better yet, have it loaded in your project template so it's set when you start a new project.
Hope this helps and happy Revit'ing.

This is an approach nearly all of us have tried. Beware, there is some "black magic" number of DWG files+Revit File Size that will make the revit file become almost unsuably slow, probably unstable. A better approach is to bite the bullet, and each project, re-draw some of the more typical details in Revit Drafting views. These will be faster, caquse less problems, and can be reused in future Revit Projects more easily. I say "convert some" since 99.99% of us don't work for "Not-for-Profit organizations. After a few projects 80% or so of the typical drtails are created, and can be imported as views to other projects quickly and easily.

Thanks Emily and Scott. I plan on working up about 25% of the details in Revit but, as you are hinting to, there is a budget on this project so I will be using CAD details for out common ones. One day all will be in Revit.................one day.
Thanks again,
Mike
