Missing level indicators

Hi,
Got ourselves into a stragne situation. We started a project with worksets enabled and got things so screwed up we could not continue the job.
As a last resort I started a a new file, re-created the levels and copied and pasted the objects from the original file to the new one.
But on the new one when we cut sections no level indicators show at all!
We are about to abandon the project in Revit and write out to Autocad, but I thought someone might have some insight on this situation. Was copying and pasting the totally wrong thing to do?

First thing to do would be to collapse all the elements into one workset and delete the unused worksets.....
