While working in the "Existing" phase, how do you display existing work and demo work?

When demoing existing walls puts it under the new construction phase.

Under our "First Floor Existing" view properties, the following is set:

Phase Filter = Showing Existing + Demo

When we set the phase to "Existing" no work appears, and we are unable to add to the existing phase. When we set the Phase to "New Construction" both existing and demo work appears. When we want to add something that should be on the "existing" phase it goes to the new construction phase.

Any help on this is appreciated.

1. you cannot show existing and demo with the view phase set to existing. you must be in a view with new construction as the current phase and change the phase filter to show existing and demo. Existing is a relative term in Revit. An existing element is anything that is before a phase. If you create an element in an existing phase and demo it also in the existing phase, it is considered temporary construction. Anything created and demo in the same phase is consider temporary.

2. whatever a current view's phase is set to, any geometry created will automatically be assigned to that phase. If you forget to model in the correct view, you can select the elements and go to element property and change the phase.

Yes, as Ken notes, Revit recognizes 'points in time', and each view can have it's own point in time specified, and a decision on what it will look BACK in time to. A view cannot look foward in time. This is why when you create something in a view, it takes on the phase that is the CURRENT point of time for that view (but this can be modified in Element Properties).

Is there a way to show all phases?

We have instances where our clients want to see Existing/Demo/New all on one plan. How is this achieved, if its even possible?

Sure. Set the view to New Construction and Show All. All existing, demo, and new elements will be displayed in the view. You can set your graphic overrides to either override or not override the display of the existing, demolished, and new elements.
