I was just working on modifying floor assembly to just metal floor deck and I saw a new component in the function box saying structural deck so I defined it. Revit then gave me an error saying I needed load a deck profile. I've never loaded a profile as a multilayer component. Is this a new thing or is this a hidden thing not removed before the final release. This would a very cool feature. Does anyone know anything about this?

I am trying to build a floor that has concrete over metal decking. I am new to Revit, so am having trouble myself.... Can you help me at all? Is it possible to have a truly directional representation of metal decking (ie profile in one view, elevation of the side of the decking in the perpendicular view)?

How do you go about making this all work? I am using Revit 6, but may be upgrading to 7 soon...

Thanks a ton!

I experimented. This tool creates a parametric array of beam shapes. Specify which loaded profile to use in the Structural Beam Shape Properties. Fixed number or fixed spacing may be specified. No doubt this could be adapted to any number of uses.

Using this new feature in Revit 7, I created a beam profile in the shape of the deck "flute," and arrayed these below a 2 inch thick slab. Joining the geometry creates a monolithic look in coarse view, but in other detail levels the bottom of the slab is visible.
