View Full Version : creating a beam with rebar components family

I am working on my first REVIT project and it is a steel building. To model the strip footing at the perimeter I would like to create a family consisting of a beam with rebar already shown in it. (This seems faster than going around the building and adding rebar to each footing). In the concrete beam family I loaded the Structural rebar family, but I get a warning saying that I "can't create element in this family" when I try to add the rebar to the beam.

Anybody have any ideas?

rebar can't be loaded into families period.

This is a very highly requested feature more so for pre-cast then insitu however parametric embedded rebar would be a huge advantage.

I would ask if you need to provide reinforcement to every beam?
If there are the same footings can't you document one as SF1 and another as SF2 then detail them in plan.

Obviously from a scheduling reo point of view this would not work but from a standard creation it would save you time and minimise the size of your revit file.
