Recently, we've been endeavoring to use digital markups in DWF format in an effort to reduce the amount of paper used in the office. Ideally, we would be able to export a DWF set from the Revit model, mark it up in Audtodesk Design Review, reimport the marked-up set back into the Revit model and have the design team pick up the redlines and change their status in Revit.

This sort of interoperability should be possible right now.

However, we've run into a couple of issues that is making it difficult to do so. One of the major problems has to do with the way Revit imports the marked-up DWF file. Depending on how Revit "sees" the path of the DWF file, it may not be able to save the changes to the markups, and will choke while trying to save to central and update the DWF. This is very frustrating for the design team.

The second problem that has been slowing down the process has to do with ceiling hatch patterns. Some hatch patterns are not translating well into the DWF file, causing ADR to hang when it attempts to open these sheets.

Has anyone else run into these problems? If so, have you developed a solution or workaround? Thanks.

I actully use that workflow and never had an issue. Maybe an hardware problem. Are you printing to a set or a single page?
Maybe doing a single page would reduce the load on your hardware?

Both issues exist regardless of whether the files in question are single-sheet DWFs or a combined set. What version of Revit/ADR/Windows are you using? I'm using 2010 for the Autodesk products, and Windows 7. (However, the problem was also occurring in Vista 64-bit).
