problem with families in 2010

This is my first project in 2010 and basically trying it out for the firm before we switch everybody in the office to it.

I created a family and loaded it into my project. Then I went to edit family on that family and tried to 'save as' another file and edit the family to be another family. The 'SAVE AS' feature is gray'd out. I am not in an edit mode, it just won't let me save as another file. Is this a glitch in 2010? Anybody else have troubles with this?

Try opening the Family itself--not from within the Project, and then Save-as.
Check with your IT mgr. ( if you have one) and see if folder permissions may also be an issue when trying to save to certain directories.
