I have a few levels in which the Workset Property is greyed out. I need it to be on the "Shared Levels and Grids" workset but I cannot edit this property. Anyone know why this would be uneditable?

Make sure you own the workset " Shared Levels and Grids". By doing that, it should become editable.

I forgot to mention that the Level is otherwise completely editable. But when I click the drop-down menu for the Workset property there is only one grayed out option which reads [View "Structural Plan: BLDG 1 - Roof Framing Plan"]. This is not even the name of the level I am trying to edit, it is the name of a level within this project though. I have gone into the Worksets window and checked everything under "Show:" and then made everything Editable yet still cannot change the Workset for these couple levels.

The first image below is the Properties box for the level, which makes it look like I could edit the Workset. The second image, however, is all that shows up when I click that drop-down menu in an effort to actually change the Workset property.

Thanks!

No one? Wow, I never thought I would stump this whole place.

Somehow the levels got set to a View workset, which I'm not sure how that could have happened. That may be something ADSK will have to fix.

I have seen this with other model objects, but never with a level annotation. The solution is those cases is to cut and then paste the object back into the proper workset.

I don't believe that is possible with levels.

Factory?

You probably could, but would probably lose level associations.

Not only level associations, but everything TIED to that level as well.

What i would try, as an experiment, is to delete that view that the workset says it belongs to. First, duplicate it (obviously) so you dont lose anything. Im curious what it will do if that "View workset" gets deleted.

Other than that, file a support request and figure out what they do for it. A few of us have seen that problem before, but as mentioned... I dont think copy and paste will suffice since its going to lay waste to everything tied to that level.

Questions:

1. Does the Level which will not change worksets have an actual Plan View associated with it--i.e. is the Level Target blue or black?

2. Can you rename or copy the Level? If so, is it still uneditable?

3. In worksets dialog box, have you checked all 4 boxes, and made all worksets editable by you--and no other users owning or borrowing?

cheers......

Sorry for the delay, I had stopped checking this thread:

As mentioned by others, if I cut/paste the level every entity associated with it is now gone from the model, not a decent solution IMO.

@twiceroadsfool:
I'll try deleting the View named in the Properties and let you know what happens.

@Cliff:
1. The level do not have an associated plan view but I have already experimented with that and it makes no difference when I create one.
2. I'll try these when I get back to work on Monday.
3. Yes, I've done this.

Thanks people, the ideas are very much appreciated!

The only solution on this issue that worked for us was to open a subscription center ticket (if you're on subscription), send them the model, they fix it in some database black box, then send us the corrected model. Quick turn around (over-night).

What still hasn't been answered is what causes this database scramble (network communication hic-up, file compact error, etc.). It would be nice to know, so we can avoid it.

Ok, so the attached image shows what I get when I try to delete the associated view, but the bottom line is that it won't let me. I had all worksets (with all four check boxes checked) Editable by me when I received this message.

Yes, I can rename the level and I can change what elevation it is at. After doing so I still cannot change the Workset though.

Thanks.
