Shared Family in Nested Family

I am in the process of created a lab bench nested family. The lab bench is comprised of a series of different standard base cabinets. To create this so they all schedule within the project I checked that little Shared button under categories and parameters...Great! Then..someone else working on the team brought in that same individual piece of casework and the whole lab bench came with it!? Is this a situation where you need a base cabinet with a door that is shared and a base cabinet with a door not shared so you can use them both as a nested family and indivually?

No, a Shared one can be Nested IN to the Lab Casework, and can also be placed individually. But it sounds like in the confusion, someone ALSo placed the LAB BENCH in the casework family...
