Wall Opening Issue

I'm trying to use a Foundation Wall type that has a Brick Ledge built into the top using a reveal profile. That part works well. However, when I add a Door Opening to the wall above that Foundation Wall, and set the elevation to -8" (brick ledge height) for the stoop, the door opening doesn't cut the top of the foundation wall. rrrggg!
Up until now, we've been modeling the top of the brick ledge separately from the rest of the foundation wall, but I would really like to eliminate that extra step.
Any thoughts?

Try joining the wall above with the foundation wall. Or, try adding the door to the foundation wall and moving it up instead of adding it on the wall above and moving down. But again, don't forget joining both walls.

Don't think the wall join will work as the (2) walls are almost always a different material. Typically the foundation wall is concrete (of course) and the wall above is usually CMU.
