Hi

we are taking the step from AutoCAD and MicroStation to Revit. We have a lot of cell libraries and DWG blocks we'd like to make use of in Revit for annotation / detailing. That would be people silhuettes, cars, various bathroom sinks, etc.

Is there a way to create a symbol / detail library (family?) in Revit that contains various types of symbols that are not parametric? Could one make a "Cars" family that contains 2D plans of many different types of vehicles?

Grateful for all suggestions

You could make a Detail Component family that contains linework for a dozen different vehicles in plan, for instance. Associate each car plan with its own Visibility parameter, and you can check and uncheck Check Boxes to toggle between the dozen. My opinion is this is simply not worth the trouble. Operationally, it would be easier to just make a dozen different car families, and swap them for each other within the project.
