Overlapping Room Volumes

I have a building with a half landing. I want the ground and first floor hallways to be connected volumes. At the moment, they overlap in the stair opening. Any ideas on how to deal with this? I can't join the rooms and I can't make it a single room.

I think you'll have to create that landing as a separated piece of floor and make it not room bounding. Then add only one room that will extend from ground to 1st floor.
