Created a room for a shaft opening on Level 1 & made its upper limit Level 25. Right now the only view in which I can see/select/tag this room is on Level 1. Is it possible to make this room tag-able on the other levels in plan view?

Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, a shaft opening would not be considered a room. I would not make it a room nor try to tag it. It's a shaft opening.

Well..it may not be a room for people but it is a room for something. Exporting to gbxml or trying to study the model in IES will require something in that room/space otherwise the void will create errors in their reporting. If using RME then I'd suggest the Space element. Since this is posted in RAC "land" then Room it is.

A room has a Top Constraint as well as a Upper Limit parameter. Place the "room" at the lowest level and adjust its Upper Limit or Top Constraint parameters until it is "tall" enough. Then you can tag the same room on each level that it pass by/through. Assign a comment or special name so it is easy to remove from schedules that you don't want it in.

If you look at the section thru the room, you can highlight the room and pull the top up as high as needed. Works well for things like Elevator shafts that you want to Room Tag as "Elevator 1" on any floor. (EDIT: Doh, you had the height already set, sorry! Glad someone caught the phase issue. Sure wish Revit understood that "rooms" need to understand phase better.)

I have used a shaft opening to cut the hole in all the floor slabs, then placed full height shaft walls with the shaft side face of stud the required offset into the shaft. With a Join Geometry you get sections that accurately show slab edge conditions, walls that have a line at the bottom on every floor, etc. Usually I try to have a set of reference planes at the shaft side face of stud, with the walls locked to them, and the shaft opening dimensioned with the required offset and locked. Now I can move any ref plane as needed and everything updates, but I really only have 8 constraints. Imagine 20 floors and a change in shaft wall construction or size and this becomes a real time saver.

Please see attached model. There is a room in the stair well. I created it on Level 5 and made is upper limit Level 7. I was able to place a tag on Levels 5 & 6, but not 7. The section view appears to show the room reaching across these levels.

I know this is user-related I just need help finding the smoking gun. In VG I turned on color fill to see the room.

Thanks.

The phase of the Level 7 view is set to Existing. Therefore, the room doesn't "exist" in that view. If you change the phase to "New Construction," the room is there.

Thanks. I knew it was user-related.
