Please refer to the attached files. I am trying eliminate all but a single section of a wall host sweep, but cannot figure out how. Please advise, thanks.

You may have to split the wall at the location of that perpendicular wall so that the sweep will only extend across the one short length of wall.

Pull it MUCH shorter than is necessary, THEN lower it. When i do it that way, it works every time.

Once the wall sweep "splits" itself in to multiple pieces, you cant get rid of a piece of it without breaking the wall apart.

Aaron,

I was real hopeful that would work for me too, but it didn't. Refer to the attached image in conjunction with the attached zip file that contains a small portion of our model. If you could look at it and see if you can get it to work, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

BTW this splitting method did work. However, one of our users here just didn't think that was right and sort of counter-BIM logic, which I do agree to some extent, so I just wanted to be sure there might not be other methods available. Also in a previous project where we split walls for other reasons, we sometimes got joint lines between the walls. That did not happen here, so I think this is fine.

Note to Adesk though, it sure would be nice if you all allowed for easier modification of these wall sweeps to handle cases like this.

Strange.

It seels to be an issue with that wall, or more specifically... That the wall has those hosted and cutting elements in them. Ive never seen it behave that way before, but i dont use many "windows" so much as storefronts.

But i got it to work. The window is now in the wrong spot. I used a simple elimination process:

1. I tried it (the method i deescribed), it didnt work.
2. I tried it on the little wing wall, and it worked fine. So i know its something with THAT wall.
3. I removed EVERYTHING from the wall (door and window) and it worked fine.
4. I put everything back, and removed the window (door stayed). It worked, although there was a residual piece near the door, but i made it disappear.
5. I put the window back and took off the door, it didnt like it when i tried it again.
6. I cut the window to clipboard, made the wall sweep tiny, lowered it, stretched it to correct length, then pasted the window back... Now its all good.

But the windows in the wrong spot from my monkeying with it. You just have to trick it in to doing what you want. :)

In my opinion, the same way when we select a wall sweep we get the option to "add/remove walls" it should consider every PIECE of a wall sweep different, when inserts/wall edits break a wall sweep up. Theyre seperate pieces in real life, they should be addable and removable that way as well.

OK, great, thanks. I'll take a look at it on Monday.

I totally agree.
