different wall sidings within a single wall and material takeoff

this seems an old topic here, just wonder if there's a good workaround before resorting to more difficult means like API stuff, to my knowledge, the following solutions works fine except ..., for example:
1) compound wall method -> seems only for vertical direction
2) stacked wall method -> seems only for vertical direction too
3) sweep method -> works best except:
. only Length parameter can be used for area/volume calculation
. seems no way to specify height/thickness parameter(s) for that profile family
4) split and paint method -> material takeoff does not substract painted material, besides, no extra siding layer representation in plan view, etc.
5) add extra wall as siding -> difficult to draw and align, also need to cut openning for window,etc.

Split the walls and make them seperate alltogether... Makes for a long list of wall types, but thats what we do for exterior finishes...
