Hi there, so I'm working on a mixed use masterplan and we're at the beginning stages of massing out and tagging areas. I've created masses and their mass floors, and assigned uses to the mass floors. I've then applied a filter to colour the floors by use so that I can: a) see if I've assigned the correct use to a particular floor and b) print out floor plans coloured by use and have them update whenever uses change or masses get modified. I've attached a couple of images showing a basic plan with colours applied and the filters I'm using.

Now here's my problem, last week I was printing the plans with the colour showing up fine. This week all of a sudden the colour won't show up when I try to print them, not even as a pdf or in the print preview. I've retraced my steps to see if there was something i either turned off or on at some point but I can't seem to figure out why they won't show up. The colours show up fine in all the views which have the filters applied including 3d views, the 3d views will print the colours fine but the plans will only print lines with no colours. Any ideas?

Chris

Are the floors turned off in the viewport? If not, turn them off.

Ok, I've figured it out, the Model Graphics Style for the view has to be set to "Shading" or "Shading with edges" for the colours to print. If its just hidden line then even though they show up in the viewport they won't actually print. Does this seem strange? What's the use in having something show one way in a viewport and different way when printed I wonder?

@ gbrowne

the presence of floors makes no difference in "Hidden Line" mode but in "Shaded" mode the presence of a floor makes the colour appear darker. See attached image, this is using the "Shaded with Edges" graphics style. The three blue masses on the right are the same use, but the middle one doesn't have a floor whereas the other two do. The one without the floor appears lighter.

I see. It used to be the way that the floor hid the colour.

Jolly good.
