instead of zoom and tab through, is there an easy way to "pick" specific layer of the compound wall as dimension reference.
1) seems Revit only use outmost layers and centre line as "strong reference" when you pick dimension reference, no way to make other layer(s) as "strong reference"? or
2) in Coarse detail level, make other layer(s) visible instead of outmost layers.

When placing dimensions you can specify where the dimension will snap to in the options bar. You can get wall faces, wall center, and faces of core. the other layers are not accessible you will have to tab to them.



2) in Coarse detail level, make other layer(s) visible instead of outmost layers.

No. You need to use medium level detail in order to see the layers of the wall.
