when opening a new project revit crashes

In Revit 2010 when loading I get to the recent files page, as soon as I select the open file icon revit stops working, in fact anything that requires you to browse crashes revit, please help, I've tried everything, going off my mind

I had a similar problem with 2009 when I "upgraded" to Internet Explorer 8. I believe some peole have had the same trouble with 2010 and IE8 (though others have had luck using both). I had to revert back to a previous version of IE.
