We are having trouble with the Revit to 3DS Max operations

Is it correct hat with Revit, iit is possible to create a photometric light with an assigned IIES file?

Is it possible to export that as an fbx file?

Is it possible to open that fbx in 3DS Max and be able to select the light source and have it's IES file available?

Thank you for any help with this.

The workflow per Autodesk is intended to take advantage of Revit and 3dsMax Design
both having photometric lights, and using the Mental Ray render engine.

The FBX format for exporting Revit to Max has been created especially for this workflow.

We have had mixed results bringing across Revit lights into Max, via FBX.
Some lights work as expected. Others, which may have a reflector or diffuser
in the Revit family can cause problems with the light showing up at all or correctly
in Max.

Sometimes we re-create the lights in Max, as there are more selections and better
control over them.

cheers.........

Cliff,

Thank you very much for your reply! It's good (I think) to know that someone else is experiencing this. I wonder if it would be possible to discuss this directly with a Autodesk support person or how I could follow up on confirming that this is a software vs user problem.

Thanks again.
