Does anyone know the best way to import from Inventor, then use Revit to export to ifc?

in 2010 products:
in Inventor, export to ADSK, a new file format.
in Revit, File>Open>Building Component, which will open the ADSK file as a Revit Family file (RFA)
Save the new RFA, and Load it into a project.
From the Project, File>Export>IFC

Scott,
I finally have the .adsk files in hand, but there's not a "File>Open>Building Component" command in Revit. I'm still in 2009 version.
Thanks.

Yes, this is a feature than was introduced in Revit 2010. Time to upgrade!

You can try the bimdex inventor to IFC exporter plugin. I have used a trial version of the plugin and the results are quite impressive. I could assign IFC classes for the export. you can get a trial by contacting sales@bim-dex.com. hope it helps!!;)
