I'm doing a presentation/marketing rendering and I need to model some simple railings, but I don't have any stairs... I have a series of stepped slabs (as generic models). How can I model a railing to follow the steps/rises of these generic model stepped slabs? I'm doing this in MEP 2009 for what it's worth.
Thanks in advance.

When creating the rail click on the host option, and the railing should align to what ever you have selected as a host.
I hope this helps.

Unfortunatly railings only host to floors, ramps, and stairs. You will have to model one of these items (floor) on top of the steped geometry to get a railing attached to it.

Is it possible to model a stepped floor as a single object? Or would it need to be a series of floors with different elevations? If it's the latter, how do you create a single railing based on the various floor objects? Can you merge railings together to create a single rainling? Sorry for all of the questions; I'm a Revit MEP guy. :\
Thanks again!

IF MEP even have the stair tool ? You could model a quick stair, with the same location, riser and thread properties, pick the stair as the host for the railing, and then just hide the stair...
Or... it could be a ramp, or a sloped floor for that matter

This POST (http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2008/07/railing-over-wall.html) at my blog might help. Describes how to model a railing over a wall where there is no host by editing the sketch lines of the railing.
