that is what i am trying to investigate. there is no family associated with the tool from the subscription advantage pack. or, when i try using this new tool i am prompted to load the span directions symbol family. i am not sure what this family is or how to create one.

Try looking here, assuming xp install
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\RAC 2010\Imperial Library\Annotations\Structural\

there should be two families: Span Direction.rfa & Span Direction Fixed.rfa

i do not have those families in my imperial library or anywhere else for that matter. any chance that you, or anyone, could post these two families?

thanks for your efforts, joe

so, i could not find either of these families in the locations specified. but i did use the Autodesk Seek and found them. at this location:

http://seek.autodesk.com/search.htm?prodid=autodesk:revit:architecture:2010:en/#query=search%5Enew%5Equery%253Dspan%2Bdirection.rfa%253Bcategory%253D%253Bfilters%253Dlinkfiletype%253Arfa%253BsortKey%253D%253BsortDir%253Dasc%253BstartAt%253D0%253BmaxResults%253D20%253BviewMode%253D0

i usually forget about the seek function. sorry to waste your time, but i do appreciate your efforts.

thanks again for your time, joe
