I think you must use "rotate 3d" command in autocad first, to rotate the 2d view
into an "elevation" UCS position.
So--in cad, open the elevation .dwg. Save as "elevation rotated" or something...
Rotate the elevation .dwg with rotate3d command, in a 3d view--so it is now "standing up"
like it needs to be in Revit.
Then in Revit, open an elevation view, and set the workplane to the face of the wall you wish to place the dwg onto. Then insert the cad file--which should now "snap" onto the wall face.
does this help?

Or plop it inside a Face Based Family.... then stamp it on the face of the wall.
