For my example I'll use a kitchen exhaust hood.
You 'strech' the hood to the size you need. You think to yourself, this would be better with 3 exhaust connections and 2 make-up air connections (cause it's that sort of hood). You then go to Element Properties, put 3 and 2 in the right boxes and bam, the amount of connection you need.
Then you just have a few other parameters that control where they sit and your laughing.
