View Full Version : RCP View Range issue

Hi,

I'm drawing an RCP in Revit 2009. My view range top: Associated Level (Level 1), offset 16'-8". Cut plane offset 7'-6". Bottom offset is 7'-6" (grayed out). View depth Associated Level (Level 1) Offset 12'-8".

The issue is that I'm trying to drop a sprinkler head component on a GWB ceiling which is at 7'-0" AFF. It doesn't see to accept them (on higher ceilings it works fine). I'd try to change the bottom of my primary range view range, but as I mentioned above, it's grayed out. I don't know how to get it to un-gray.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Derek

If the Cut Plane is at 7'-6" and the ceiling is at 7', then the ceiling is "behind" you as you look up in the RCP. I assume you can't see the ceiling either? If your gyp material has no surface pattern, it may be hard to tell that it actually isn't there.
As for Bottom, there is no mechanism to show things "behind" you in RCP, the way you can with Casework in plan. Thus Bottom is set to the same as Cut automatically, it has no meaning in RCP. So the quick answer is to pull the Cut plane down to 6' 11", so you catch the 7' ceiling. Hopefully you don't also catch the tops of doors and windows.

Hope that helps,
Gordon

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunatley, if I try to make the cut plane 6'-11", it give me an error that the cut plane is below the bottom offset, and as I mentioned, I can't change the bottom offset as it is grayed out. I don't know why it's grayed out.
