View Full Version : 2 scales for View title (at the same time)

Can anybody help me find out a way to create my view title family so it shows 2 scales at the same time, like this:

Second Floor Plan
1/8"=1'-0" (12x18 )
1/4"=1'-0" (24x36) , which would be the parameter scale times 2

I create all my plans on the size 12x18, but once in a while I need to print 1 or 2 sets for the contractors at a size of 24x36, so I need to show both scales all the time and forget about adding notes at the end about the change on scale, and I'm sure it would be helpful for anybody doing the opposite 24x36 to 12x18, wouldn't work on 11x17 because it would not be exactly half the scale or some areas would be cropped.

Thanks.

My first reaction is no, not at this time...

My second is, would a bold note that says what each sheet size represents work? Our sheets carry a note that says: "The original size of this document is 30x42" (or metric size when that's involved)

Since you use two sizes and the larger is always 2x the scale your note could just say so? Just a thought.

Luckily we don't have any contractors who think that our buildings are half-size (door at 18" anyone?) do you really have problems with contractors scaling drawings by a factor of 2... let alone scaling drawings instead of using the dimensions given?

Revit way of addressing the need is to print sheet with 50% (or some other value) zoom factor and keep view scales unchanged. It may make sense to have an enhancement that would allow adding a print-zoom label to titleblocks. Such label would work similar to date-stamp and reflect zoom factor at the time of printing.

I create a separate title block with the note PLOT IS HALF INDICATED SCALE, or something along those lines. Before you plot, select all instancesof the title block from the project browser and swap the family and you're done.

Can a yes/no shared parameter be used with the note being the value displayed? Or one that shows plotted scale?
I'll have to try that when I get a chance

That would so rock. We print halfsize, 3/4 size, ect. all the time. Being able to have it just within the titleblock would be really helpful!

...Such label would work similar to date-stamp and reflect zoom factor at the time of printing...That would be a nice parameter indeed.

Oh yes - I like that !

Meanwhile HCSL's suggestion may do the job right now. Just define a shared parameter, add a label to title block, and define project parameter. For the time being you would need to set the correct parameter value manually before printing. BTW, in 7.0 you can use similar technique to put 'Not for construction' stamp on sheets during printing.

Sometimes the contractors read what you don't expect them to read or get a dimension without looking at the door size, for safety reasons, I'll like to explain them how to get the right dimensions without mistake.

Thanks, I will add a note to my view title family.
