So, i went to start tagging some drawings, and was surprised that i could not tag the doors or walls from the linked revit file! I can schedule them, but cant tag them.
Is this possible?
How do i do it?
Thanks.

You tag them in the linked file. Then you set your file to "By Linked View" for the RVT:Link tab of VG.
You cant tag elements in Linked files.

oh, thats not what i wanted to hear :)
seems like a good work around.
Thanks for the response.
here is the part where i rant:
so if i can schedule it in the linked in file, then why cant i tag it! how would anyone know what i am scheduling if i cant point it out on the drawings.

You can point it out in the drawings. Thats why Linked files have a VG setting for "By Linked View." Its not really a workaround, thats how the tool works.
When i first started using file Links i wanted to be able to tag in the parent file too, but after doing a few jobs i came to realize there is SOME merit in not being able too. Too much confusion over whats modeled where, whats tagged where, whats dimensioned where. On a large project team, it can get awfully confusing. This method works really well, once the project is organized. Stuff "in the link" is "in the link," even if it shows up elsewhere.
But, i know i enjoy File Links more than most people, LOL.
