I imported an autocad survey and created a toposurface which came out fine
I then set the toposurface to the existing phase & created a graded region. The attached image shows the two topos overlaid, you can see that the red topo (existing) & the brown topo (graded region) do not match, any idea how I can get the graded region to match the topo surface? I had no trouble with this in 6.1. I have attached the file if anyone wants to take a look you can see each one individually by changing between exxisting & new phases. id appreciate any feedback

You have the phase filter for this view set to " Show All ".

Selecting the red topo properties indicates that this top was created in the existing phase and demolished in the new phase. Selecting the brown topo indicates that it was created in the New Construction phase and not demolished. This is what you expect to happen when you use the grading tool.

If you set the phase filter to " Show Complete", you will just see the new topo. But you may want to have an Existing View and a New View of the topo, with the existing contours turned off in the New View.

Beegee,
perhaps I wasnt clear on my previous question, I purposely left the existing contours and new both on so you could see that the graded region does not match the original contours,
they should be duplicates, I can not figure out why they are not the same, any ideas?

Attached are is a view of a site model with contours and a graded region created from the site model. Notice that the graded region appears to be simply creating a series of contours that connect the perimeter of the site together it is disregarding all the site contours, I cannot figure out why this is happening, any ideas?

You made no changes to the graded region then? Just used the graded region command and finished? Did you tell it to create internal points as well?

FYI, I've merged the two other threads you started on this subject into this thread. Let's just keep one going on this okay?

Not sure where to tell it to creat internal points but I will check that out, thanks
