ASD 2010 freeze on launching with Win 7,
any ideas?

2011 release will work on Windows 7

Most likely probem is IE8.
I'm running 2010 on Windows 7 (and IE8) with no problems, but I've heard of many people who can't get the initial open screen if they have IE8 installed.

The screen is built on the fly.
If you can't get 2010 to start at all, try editing your Revit.ini file.
Change this line:

[Misc]
DisplayRecentFilesPage=1
to say =0 instead of =1
